OBJECTIVE/
Hatchet is a series of young adult wilderness survival novels written by Gary Paulsen in 1986. Hatchet is the first book of the saga and is one of the most popular read books in middle school. The illustration of the book needed a new face to engage new generations and keep the legacy rolling.
SOLUTION/
The book covers had to convey mystery and attract pre-teenagers and anyone who likes the wilderness and survival. The colors were chosen to portray bravery and masculinity to attract young males to choose the book. The typeface for the title is Bookman Press Sans and was modify to make a hatchet with the letter t. The illustration was minimalistic in comparison to the original covers but kept the collage style as the original.
